„7th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art“

Subject
Historically Buddha stays in a temple for peace, away from materialism, money and modern life, in order to acquire wisdom, eating no meat and drinking no alcohol. Meng Qiu's painting “I am Buddha” is on the contrary of traditional understanding of Buddha’s existence. Brightly colored Independent lines across the face remind people of Beijing Opera Facial Makeup, traditional Chinese culture which arose in the 18th century. A Red Scarf may remind many of China’s communist Mao Zedong times. These profound contradictions let us question traditional and modern ideologies, from “religionism” to communism to materialism, invoking thoughts about traditions in general and how they were transformed over time due to political means. Because it is through political means that our very own lives are being transformed, and if we dare to look and analyze we find nothing else but a mirrored image of ourselves in this transformation!

Subject
We seldom spend a notion on the thoughts we constantly have. We continuously follow rules with their impact slipping glibly past our attention. We systematically devote to works yet rarely notice their reason. We constantly gaze outwards as we go blind on the inside in darkness. If we followed our paths, beheld our thoughts and fulfilled the feelings of our inner light, then we would find independent lines leading us towards our essential destinies. If we saw these, we would realize who we really are.

Thematik
Wir machen uns selten darüber Gedanken worüber wir laufend denken. Wir befolgen unaufgefordert Regeln deren Auswirkungen unbedacht an uns vorbeigleiten. Wir widmen uns systematisch Tätigkeiten deren Sinn wir selten wahrnehmen. Wir richten den Blick nach Außen während wir im Inneren in Dunkelheit erblinden. Folgten wir jedoch den Pfaden, erblickten unsere Gedanken und verwirklichten die Gefühle unseres inneren Lichts, dann würden wir unabhängige Linien finden, die uns zu unseren eigentlichen Zielen führten. Erblickten wir diese, so würden wir erkennen wer wir wirklich sind.

Subject
The law of contradiction states that two contradictory opposites cannot both be true. The principle of bivalence suggests that any logic must be either true or false, regardless of our ability to determine its effective meaning. In the convergence of similarities of diverse origin, a contradictory illusion can arise which causes the seeming impossibility of logic, natural laws and principles to lapse.
Ceramic “vessels of spatial convergence” merge realities from the perspective of the observer in space and time and produce the herewith associated phenomenon of “Convergent Opposition”. Plastic casts of ceramic objects of spatial convergence allow their projection upon a two-dimensional plane.

Thematik
Der Satz vom ausgeschlossenen Widerspruch besagt, dass zwei einander widersprechende Gegensätze nicht zugleich zutreffen können. Das Prinzip der Bivalenz belegt dass jede Logik wahr oder falsch sein muss, unabhängig von unserer Fähigkeit ihren Wahrheitswert festzustellen. Bei der Konvergenz von Ähnlichkeiten die nicht gemeinsamen Ursprungs sind kann eine sich widersprechende Illusion im Raum entstehen welche die scheinbare Unmöglichkeit von Logik, Naturgesetzen und Prinzipien ausser Kraft setzt.
Keramische Raumkonvergenzgefäße verschmelzen Realitäten aus der Sicht des Beobachters in Raum und Zeit und erzeugen das hiermit verbundene Phänomen des konvergenten Widerspruchs. Plastische Abdrücke keramischer Konvergenzgefäße ermöglichen deren Projektion in eine zweidimensionale Ebene.
